![]() ![]() ![]() Its a bit of a shame as I like the way trucks go in and out. It clearly functions with trucks coming in and out and trains going in and out, but for now, not sure how to use it in the rail network. Not sure how to reliably implement this station anywhere at the moment. The fact that trains take a longer path to a regular station after going through an Airport Station which is actually closer to the entrance of Chirp X than the Regular Station makes me wonder if Trains for this are actually a different vehicle than regular Cargo trains and follow a different AI. Internal Rail Connection Only - Trains showed up at Regular Cargo Terminal drove through Airport Cargo to get to it.External Rail Connection Only - Trains showed up at Regular Cargo Terminal drove through Airport Cargo to get to it.Airport Cargo Station with Regular Cargo Station after it (trains had to go through Airport Cargo station to get to Regular Cargo Station). Both Internal and External Rail Connection - Trains never showed up.Internal Rail Connection Only - Trains never showed up.Chirp X complained about no goods after a few minutes. External Rail Connection Only - Trains never showed up.Both Internal and External Rail Connection - Trains came in only from inside and outside and delivered cargo as expected.Internal Rail Connection Only - Trains came in only from inside and delivered cargo as expected.External Rail Connection Only - Trains came in only from outside and delivered cargo as expected.Maybe the trains for this station use a different AI for Cargo stations similar to garbage trucks and recycle trucks? What I found is my theory was wrong, but I have no clue how this works now. I could then place stations on the road loop and connect rail connections that are either internal, external, or both depending on how I configured rail lines into the station or around them. I had a road loop around the site which allowed garbage, fire and police placement to cover the necessary services. Should be able to monitor as well by checking if Chirp x is importing in the info view.īuilt an isolated Chirp X launch site where only connection was via rail. If my theory is correct, then the external line should be able to deliver to it as that would be imports, but the internal one won't as all goods on that must come from somewhere in the city to the site. Connect one or the other and see what happens. ![]() Place the Airport station next to an isolated launch site, then run an internal and external rail up to it but don't connect them. So something is different, just not sure what. I then tried Bloody Penguins Dual track and activity cranked back up again. Putting the airport cargo station back in stopped the activity again. Swapping it out with a regular station instantly started the conga line of trucks to the station and more train activity. The issue was there were almost no delivery trucks in industry going to it, and trains were almost non-existent. The rest were mail trucks importing/exporting mail. The truck traffic was limited and from what I could tell every truck going into the station was either importing or exporting goods. Yea, I was able to get both internal and external trains to go to the station and pick up cargo as I routed my internal line to one side and external to second side and got trains to eventually appear on either side, but very rarely. There may still be some internal transfer in the station from a train outside the city to a train in the city, but my theory is that the pathfinding requires the start or end destination of any good using this station to be somewhere outside the city. Once a plane lands and goods go on the truck, the AI won't put goods into this station to go to another station in the city. I need to play around with it more but was hoping I could use it to transfer deliveries from planes via trucks to the train station out to the rest of the city via rail, but that does not seem to happen since it must be an import or export. I think the truck deliveries to the station are all exports to be sent by train out and the truck pickups from the station are all imports via train to be used in the city. Almost no train traffic between industrial areas and factories with Airport Cargo Train Station, but swapping stations out with regular Cargo Station generated traffic.Ĭurrently, I think it works as an outside connection where goods can either come in or go out of the city but not into the station from one part of the city and be transferred to another part. My "newish" city was not requiring much of any imports or exports and was meeting the need internally. It only seems to function for imports and exports in and out of the city but does not seem to accept goods and transfer them to another station. Yea, I don't think it works exactly like a normal cargo station. ![]()
